As most of you know, Google owns YouTube and it's well known that YouTube helps drive traffic to your site and also is great as part of your backlinking campaign.

The way I use videos on my stores is generally in 2 ways.

    1. Tutorials. For example, say your site is selling kitchen ware, then some videos demonstrating various kitchen items or some great recipes can be great.

    2. Manufacturers. I pick out the top 4-5 brands and look for a suitable video from their YouTube official channel. This last part is important as you don't really want to embed videos from user accounts that may get shutdown or don't have many views.

The method to embed the video is:

    1. Go to YouTube and select the video you want to include on your site.

    2. Click on the "Share" button and then the "Embed" button.

    3. Select a Custom size (I use 600px width for most of mine)

    4. Copy the code it generates and within the FSB editor, click on the HTML button and paste the YouTube code in.

Additionally what I also do is create a YouTube account for each store with at least one unique video (doesn't have to be fancy), then I subscribe to all the major video channel within my niche.

It's possible the default iframe youtube embed code doesn't work.

I actually check the option "Use old embed code".

It works now with using the old embed code.

    Thanks!

I just was looking through forum for this before post new thread. Thanks :)

I also use EasyVideoPlayer 2 and was wondering if it`s possible to use it.
I sometimes want to make my own video, but not necessary upload to YT, but rather have only viewable to my shop visitors

Here are a few YouTube tricks you can use on videos you want to show on your site. I was shown these about a year ago and don't claim to have worked them out myself.

    YouTube URL Trick #1
    View HD Video
By default YouTube shows a low resolution copy of all uploaded videos. This saves the company a massive amount of network bandwidth.
You can force YouTube to show the HD version of a video (if available) by using the HD parameter:
    &hd=1 (best HD quality available)
    &fmt=18 (stereo, 480 x 270 resolution)
    &fmt=22 (stereo, 1280 x 720 resolution)
    Example:
    With embed, use:
    “&ap=%2526fmt%3D18″ and “&ap=%2526fmt%3D22″

    YouTube URL Trick #2
YouTube offers a mechanism to skip x seconds of video before playing. This is useful if the video has a
beginning that is not to your advantage or your viewer’s advantage.
    Parameter:
&start=s (where ‘s’ is # seconds from beginning)
    #t=XXmYYs (embed method)
    Example:

    YouTube URL Trick #3
    Automatically Play a Video
You can cause a video to automatically begin playing when the page loads with the auto play parameter.
    Parameter:
    &autoplay=1
    Example:

    YouTube URL Trick #4
    Video Play Loop
You can make a video play in a continuous loop with the loop parameter.
    Parameter:
    &loop=1
    Example:

    YouTube URL Trick #5
    Shut Off Search Box
By default, YouTube includes a search box overlay on all videos. You can tell YouTube not to do this with
    the show search parameter.
    Parameter:
    &showsearch=0
    Example:

    YouTube URL Trick #6
    Disable Related Videos
By default YouTube displays related videos when a video finishes playing. You can disable this feature
    with the related videos parameter.
    Parameter:
    &rel=0
    Example:
    http://www.youtube.com/v/GTLg2dprilI&rel=0

    YouTube URL Trick #7
    Downloading YouTube Videos
Most video files can be downloaded from any video hosting site. All you need is the right software.
    FREE:
    http://saveyoutube.com/
    PREMIUM:
    http://www.downloadvideospro.com ($20)
    http://vdownloader.com ($29)

@tommymac try using a different browser, sometimes this is the issue, not the FSB software. eg. firefox/chrome/ie etc... If still no good, might need to submit a ticket for support - don't forget to provide all logins on you initial ticket to speed things up...

    Hi Ashwin,

I think you created new content pages and also edited your home page in the past. I remember helping you with the store installation and you did the rest. The same way you added new content pages or added content to category pages will be the same way you insert html into those pages. Whenever you are editing a product, content or category page you will see a blue html icon. You will need to click on that icon and a new window will pop-up. Insert the YouTube code in that window and click save. Now that YouTube video will be displayed on the page you added it on.

If you are still having trouble maybe I can do a quick picture guide showing the steps, just let me know.

    Regards
    NIhad

Thanks Nihad. I have been able to embed the videos and able to view them when I am in the "shopadmin" mode.
But am unable to see them on the actual site after exiting from the shopadmin mode.
Does it usually take time for the actual site to get updated and then display the video?
    Regards,
    Ashwin Naik

Did you try clearing your store cache from freshadmin - tools ? If you are still having issues, update the ticket we have with the link where you added the YouTube video and I will check it out.

thanks for the tips :) I might add some videos on page where relevant, but mostly will use self-made slideshow videos to drive extra laser targeted traffic to my sites with the keyword(s).
